Mother Esther Lee Hicks entered into peaceful rest on Friday August 12, 2016. She was born in Lampasas, Texas on October 9, 1930 to Missionary Ruby Lee (Wilson) Hicks and Elder Thomas DeWitt Hicks, who preceded her in death. She was never married nor had children, but she helped so many young people during her lifetime. She worked over 30 years at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas training young men and women for their future. She was also an excellent L.V.N. She was a member of the planning committee in the City of Kyle, Kyle Lion’s Club, NCNW, NAACP and AARP. She was the Church Mother of the Hicks Chapel Church of God in Christ in Lampasas, Texas and was saved under the leadership of Elder T.C. Collins Jr. She traveled for years over the highways on Sunday and special occasions from Kyle to Lampasas. She started a youth group at church and the young people loved her. She purchased special T-shirts for the youth and they really loved the outing at the park with the delicious food she prepared for them. When her health began to fail, she put her membership at the Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ in Austin, Texas under the leadership of Superintendent Limmie Collins until her demise. She leaves to celebrate her life a special friend, Missionary Helen Collins, the Hicks Chapel church family, the Deliverance Temple church family and a host of friends and co-workers. Funeral service will be held Friday August 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
