Freddy G. Black, 74 of Lampasas, Texas died late Tuesday night July 19, 2016 at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Freddy was born June 17, 1942 in Fouke, Arkansas the son of Walter G. Black and Irma Lavern (Akin) Black. He married Donna Shaw and had lived in this area since 2008. Freddy served in the United States Marine Corps. He served on the Houston Police Department for 20 years, retiring as Sgt. He then was Sheriff Deputy for Stone County S.O. in Arkansas and was elected Sheriff there for 2 terms. He was a Baptist and had a heart for missions. He took in many youths and was a father figure to them. Freddy also loved music and was a member of Short grass Prairie Band.

Dena Stagner and husband Barney of Houston
Sister, Linda Atkins and husband John of Marietta, OK
8 grandchildren; Chelsea Black, Zachary Moseley, Mitchell Moseley, Lucas Moseley, Wynn Duncan, Miranda Duncan, Courtney Stagner, Hailey Stagner.
Freddy was preceded in death by a son, Michael Black and by his parents.
A funeral service for Freddy Black will be held on Friday July 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston on Monday July 25, 2016.
Visitation is Thursday July 21, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
