Margaret Sue Lancaster, 77 of Lampasas, Texas died Thursday July 14, 2016 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple. Sue was born August 24, 1938 in Lometa, TX the daughter of David L. Burns and Mattie Ellen (Truitt) Burns. Sue graduated from high school in Lometa and later worked for HEB for over 20 years as cashier, meat cutter. She was State Vice President of AMVETS. She and her late husband Charles N. Lancaster helped develop gamma grass on their place and named it “Texas Sue.” Sue also ran the Lancaster Pecan Grove Bed and Breakfast. Survivors include: son, Robert Holt of Lampasas 2 sisters; Faye McGinnis and husband Norman of Minford, OH Nancy Thogmartin and husband Tommy of Lampasas 3 grandchildren; Roxie, Kimmie and Randy Step daughters; Cheryl McMahan and husband Pat Charlsey Nisley and Dan Step-son, Brad Lancaster and Patricia Roberts Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Sue was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Capehart and by 5 brothers and one sister. A funeral service for Sue Lancaster will be held on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Smith School Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday July 20, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Rollins Brook Community Hospital Emergency Dept.
