Lana Sullenger

Lana Claude Lancaster Sullenger, 73, passed away on July 6, 2016 after a 21 year battle with multiple myeloma. No funeral is scheduled. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered at her family home. Lana was born December 18, 1942 in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas, to Bertha Halamicek and Claude Lancaster. She was a 1960 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, from which she also received a Masters Degree in library science. She worked at the Austin Public Library, Stephen F. Austin State University’s Ralph W. Steen Library in Nacogdoches, Texas, and in the State and Local Records Management Division of the Texas State Library in Austin, prior to moving to Lampasas County. Lana was proud of her Czech/English/Irish roots and enjoyed gardening, recycling, quilting, problem solving, and attempting to live as frugally as possible in a materialistic world. She was an avid reader whose personal list of most influential works includes Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, “On the Duty of Civil Disobedience,” War and Peace, “Metamorphosis,” “A Pair of Silk Stockings,” The Book of Merlyn, “The Declaration of Independence”, and any Agatha Christie mystery novel. She loved her family and her kitties. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Bertha Lancaster, her husband of forty years, Lee Wayne Sullenger, and her daughter, Laura. She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Butler and husband Robert of Lometa Niece, Debora Terry and husband Tom of Lampasas Niece, Belinda Gillum and husband Stanley of Lampasas Nephew, Robert Butler, Jr. and wife Pam of Houston Numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements
