Dorothy Nell Saunders Capps gently left with the angels March 9, 2016. She was born in Mason, TX to Henry Grady & Fannie Eleanor (Land) Saunders June 7, 1919. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, 2 brothers, Randolf & Henry G. Saunders Jr., by sister, Ruth Louise Saunders Shelby, by husband of 49 years J B Capps, son-in-law, Macon Banner, grandchildren, Shaun Capps and Jessica Jones Wright, sister-in-law, Sammye Capps Reagan. Survived by Janis Capps Jones Banner, Randy & Joyce Capps 5 grandchildren; Julie and Bobby Brown, Bliss Vickers, Bryan and Sarabeth Jones, Wran and Shannon Capps, Brandon Capps. 15 great-grandchildren; Ryan & Justin Brown, Blake & Jacy Vickers, Elizabeth, Jonathan & Will Jones, Tanner, Rob, Billy & Jillian Wright, Karalyn & Ashley Capps, Tiffany & Christian Capps. 7 great-great grandchildren; Zach, Corrine & Sydney Brown, Jaxon & Jordan Brown, Haylee & Jemma Vickers. Niece, Jan Gallaway, nephews; Jimmy & Billy Shelby, Brad Westberry, Barbye Moon and Wynn Anderson. Dorothy married J B Capps February 7, 1937 and resided in Mason, Batesville and the last 54 years in Lampasas. She worked at the auction barn and Federal Credit Union in Killeen. She was a member at First Street Church of Christ, a faithful servant of her Lord. She cooked and sent food for church gatherings. When she could no longer cook, she gave Randy money to purchase food. She made phone calls almost daily to check on members & friends & sent many cards of encouragement. Dorothy was a woman of many talents, Bible study, she was a World Bible teacher, loved to garden veggies and flowers. Best cook in Texas, made jams and jellies and one years ketchup. Her recipes are famous. She was an artist of great talent. She had numerous bird feeders and houses and enjoyed the cardinals, bluebirds and martins. Quite astute at politics, still discussing the elections on Tuesday before she passed. Her door was always open and there were baked goods to share. You might get a little sermon too. She was afaithful Christian, loving wife, dedicated Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. We all have so many wonderful memories she has blessed us with that will remain forever. She was unique in that you always knew where she stood on any matter, guided her children and grandchildren in many ways. Our Gommy was so special to us and we will keep her in our hearts forever. We want to express our thanks to the caring , loving nurses and staff at Lampasas Nursing-Rehab. She loved them in return. Memorial service at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas, TX Monday March 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with Trent Lancaster officiating. Interment in Mason, TX at Gooch Cemetery on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
