Sylvia Elaine Straley, 68 of Evant, TX passed away early Thursday morning December 31, 2015 in her home after a tough battle with cancer. Sylvia was born June 7, 1947 in Gatesville, TX the daughter of H.D. “Dobbin” Stanford and Frances Pearl (Pax) Stanford. She grew up in Evant and graduated High School there. She attended and graduated from Nixon Clay Business School in Austin. Sylvia married David R. Straley August 14, 1966 in Evant. She baby sat children in her home after her son Robert was born. She worked for the V.A. Regional office in Waco and then she began a career in banking in 1974. Sylvia continued her career at The First National Bank of Evant until her death. She held the position of First Vice President of the bank. Sylvia also had her real estate license. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, and supporting her family at numerous sporting events. She loved her grandchildren and being a part of their activities such as football and basketball games, stock shows, and cheer leading.

Sylvia is also survived by a large extended family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday January 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Evant, TX. Funeral service will be Wednesday January 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Evant School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at Smith School Creek Cemetery.
