Wylie S. Norred Jr.

Wylie S. Norred Jr., age 85 of Lampasas died Tuesday November 3, 2015 at home. Wylie was born Oct 1, 1930 in Lampasas, TX the son of Wylie S. Norred Sr. and Henrietta (Nottingham) Norred. He attended Allen Academy in Bryan, TX and later graduated from University of Houston. He worked for a large oil company for several years and then decided he wanted more adventure and began a welding career that lasted many years. He traveled the world and was a top notch welder and welding inspector. He married Carolyne Hodges and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Air Force. Wylie is survived by his wife, Carolyne Norred 2 daughters; Susie Vidrine and Mitzi Hernandez 2 sons; Don Key and Jimmy Cross 6 grandchildren; Jonathan Key, Madeline Key, Brittany Hernandez, Mason Hernandez, Levi Cross and Jacob Cross Several great-grandchildren also survive. Wylie was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held Friday November 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 11-5-2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Dorcas Class at First Baptist Church in Lampasas.
