Carl Longer, age 96 of Lometa, TX died Oct 30, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Harker Heights. Carl was born January 9, 1919 in Corsicana, TX to Anton Longer and Josephine (Stepanski) Longer. He was the 6th of 8 children. As a young man he joined the SeeBee’s during WW II and was honored to serve his country. Carl traveled around the United States as a form and foundation construction supervisor for Ebasco and lived in 11 different states and 13 different cities in Texas. He met his wife and best friend, Edna Earl (Davis) Longer along the way. She preceded him in death. Carl enjoyed farming and ranching, but held a passion for fishing and his church. After retirement he moved to Franklin, TX where he built a prosperous cattle program, played dominoes at the senior center and caught enough catfish to host monthly fish fries. In 1996 Carl and his sister, Annie Longer Smith moved to Terra Dei Ranch near Lometa to live with his nephew, Dr Kenneth W. Smith and wife Barbara. Carl was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lometa where he was proud to say the rosary and ring the opening bell on Sunday mornings. He was a member of Knights of Columbus. Carl was especially proud of his two godsons; nephew Thomas Longer and great-nephew, Garrett McGuire.
He is survived by his family; niece, Barbara (Adamo) Smith, great-niece, Marie McGuire and husband Wes

Carl was preceded in death by Dr. Kenneth W Smith and Sister, Annie Longer Smith.
Rosary will be recited Friday November 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Visitation begins at 6:30 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be Saturday November 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lometa. Burial will be at Loving Arms Gardens Cemetery on the ranch in Lometa.
