Gladys Dickison, age 82 of Lampasas, TX, died September 30, 2015 at Reliant Rehab Hospital in Round Rock. Gladys Jane Felts was born in San Saba, TX on November 16, 1932 to Dr. Richard C. and Lady Wynne Cayce Felts. She attended school in San Saba where she graduated from high school. She attended Abilene Christian University where she was a member of Omega Rho Alpha, the Kitten Club, Girls’ Training class and the college chorus. She received her degree with High Honors from Sam Houston State University. She also did post-graduate work at Sam Houston, Texas Women’s University and the University of Texas. She was a member of Alpha Chi. She married Jack L. Dickison and they were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She taught Vocational Homemaking for 4 years at Star before moving to Lampasas where she taught Language Arts, Physical Education and Art. She was selected as an “Outstanding Young Woman of America”. Gladys was an artist who actively painted until her death. She retired from teaching in 1992 and soon began a career in television and motion pictures. She took classes pertaining to this work from many well-known actors and directors. She had the good fortune to appear in movies, commercials and television programs, as well as a music video. Gladys was baptized into Christ at age 13 and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ until her death. She was very active in church work at the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. She also took an active part in the Town and Country Study Club, the GFCW 36 Study Club, the Lampasas County Historical Commission and the Lampasas Retired Teachers Association. Two of the highlights of her life came in being selected to be a torchbearer for the Olympics, once in 1996 and again in 2002 by the International Olympic Committee. She loved her family and delighted in being with them and preparing meals for them. She loved having them join her in her kitchen or artistry. For years she arose before daylight to walk/jog for 3 to 4 miles each day followed by a swim. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dick Felts; and her son-in-law, Jay Laminack. She is survived by her husband, Jack; 3 children--James Richard Dickison and wife Elizabeth of Lometa; Shele Laminack of Aledo; Joel David Dickison of Lometa and Jennifer Dickison of Burnet; 8 grandchildren--Will Dickison and wife Brook of San Angelo; Joel Laminack & wife Lacey of Leander; Rocky Schlegel and wife Jessica of Yoakum; Sara Byrd and husband Jason of La Vernia; Kirk Laminack and wife Kristen of Sumter, South Carolina; Jack, Olivia and Martina Dickison of Burnet; and by one brother, John Felts and his wife Dawn of San Saba; sisters-in-law, Addie Felts of Brownwood, Shirley Dickison of San Saba, Johnnie Dickison of Gatesville and Lovell Wright and husband Ted of Tyler, TX; eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation for Mrs. Dickison will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. Funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. Semi-private burial will follow for family and close friends at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
