Robert Eric Bigham, 75, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, in Bryan, Texas, with his son by his side. Robert, or Bob as he was called, was born February 10, 1940, in Lampasas, Texas, the son of George Thomas Bigham and Mildred Lee (Abney) Bigham.
Bigham, a 1958 graduate of Lampasas High School, attended Tarleton State University, where he served as Commander for the Corps of Cadets. He graduated as a Distinguished Student and a Distinguished Military Student from Texas A&M University in 1962 with a civil engineering degree.
He served on the First Battalion Group Staff and was a Cadet Major during his senior year. Bigham earned the Department of the Army Superior Cadet Award. He was a member of Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honor society.
Survivors are his son, Watt, and his wife, Jamie, two grandsons, Eric and Joey Bigham of Lavon; his sister, Maggie. B. Thomas of Ft. Worth; niece, Jennifer LeBow of Havana, Cuba; cousins, Linda Webb of Cibolo and Carol Wright of Lampasas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mildred Bigham, and a niece, Janet Dromgoole.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Sneed Funeral Chapel. A funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Thomas and Mildred Bigham Scholarship Fund.
