Gladys Shelton

Gladys Marie “Happy Bottom” Shelton, 89 of Lampasas, TX died Saturday July 18, 2015 at Spring Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Gladys was born January 18, 1926 in Henderson, TX the daughter of Dewey Dukes and Nora (Havard) Dukes. She grew up in Henderson and after graduating from High School there began a long career of bookkeeper and accountant. She married Dayton E. Shelton and he preceded her in death in 1991. She moved with her husband’s work many times. She was a “tough broad” who loved collecting owls and making ornamental Christmas bowls for her family. Upon retirement she volunteered at Rollins-Brook Community Hospital and provided home care to many. Survivors are daughter, Regenia Hopkins 3 sons; Rhondy Shelton, Ricky Shelton and Rocky Shelton 5 grandchildren; Renee Hopkins, Rachelle Hopkins-Anglin, Nerissa Shelton, Jesse Shelton, Chelan Shelton 4 sisters; Linda Tucker (Bob), Annette Dennis (Don), Lanelle Pederson (Merv), Barnette Irish 3 brothers; Curtis Dukes (Naomi), Glenn Dukes (Katy), Jake Dukes (Leah) Gladys was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Eugene, Howard, Willard and J.W. Dukes and by a sister, Irene Chamberlain and by her parents. Her body will be cremated and the family is planning a private memorial service later. Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements
