Benhart Franklin Frank Sr., 71 of Burnet, TX passed away Wednesday May 6, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and children. Benhart was born in Lampasas on his grandmother Jones’ birthday February 14, 1944 and was named after his grandfather, Benhardt Frank. He was the third child of five children born to Willie and Laura Jones Frank. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hamilton and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Lampasas. He attended school in a unique 1st through 8th grade 3 room country school at Adamsville and then finished at Lampasas High School. He attended Austin Barber College and later owned Ben’s Barber Shop on the square in Lampasas. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a 32nd degree mason. He married Carolyn Dixon July 1, 1965 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin. He moved to Burnet in 1975 and retired from GTE/Verizon after 20 years. He was a proud member of C.W.A. and was a DDR Rep. Benhart was a man with a big heart and they broke the mold when they made him. He always fought for the underdog. He had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his jokes and tall tales. He enjoyed gardening and was an outdoors enthusiast. We have many rich memories of life with Ben.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn, by his children, Lori Schlossberg and husband Blair, Angela Malinak, Julie Frank and Benhart Frank Jr. and wife Michele. 10 cherished grandchildren; Jaclyn and Leah Schlossberg, Avery and Abigail Malinak, Emma, Madeline, Joseph and Edward Parker, Haley and Natalie Frank. Beloved sisters; Bonnie Goble and Mary Smithwick and husband Kenneth. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Delton and Hedy Heugatter and by many nieces and nephews.
Benhart was preceded in death by parents, sister, Linda Frank, brother, Wayne Frank and son-in-law, Alan Malinak.
Funeral service will be Saturday May 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Straley Cemetery in Adamsville.
