Mildred Adams Butts

Mrs. Mildred Lucille (Adams) Butts, age 94 of Lampasas, TX died Saturday April 25, 2015 in Brownwood, TX. She was born November 6, 1920 to John Clements Adams Sr. and Lena (Cook) Adams in Moline, TX. She attended Moline School for 11 grades and graduated from Star High School, where she played basketball in 1938. She married Owen Townsend Butts in November 1946. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She began working outside the home in 1960 at Piggly Wiggly. She worked hard to make sure her children had everything they needed. She always put her children first. Her favorite job was working at Briggs Gamel Funeral Home and Sneed Funeral Chapel. That was the highlight of her 80’s. She was very proud to sat she retired at age 85. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She loved her church and her God. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending events for them. Survivors include 2 children; Gary Butts and wife Linda of Brownwood, TX Kathy Douglas and husband Scott of San Antonio. 4 grandchildren; James Butts of Brownwood, Shanna Hendrix of Round Rock, Kyle Douglas and wife Kristen of Palo Alto, CA, Devin Douglas of Seguin. 7 great-grandchildren; Jamie, Erik and Laniee Butts of Brownwood, Gibson, Aaron and Ben Douglas of Seguin, and Peyton Douglas of Palo Alto, CA. One brother, Frank Wendell Adams and wife Johnnie and by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Townsend by her parents and by 3 brothers; J.C. Adams, William A. (Billie) Adams and Otis James Adams. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday April 28, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday April 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
