James William Alexander, age 69 of Lampasas, TX died Saturday April 18, 2015 at home. James was born November 10, 1945 in Billings, Montana the son of Frank Alexander and Wilhelmina (Eckroth) Alexander. He moved along with his military family while growing up and graduated high school in Friendship, TX. Jim joined the U.S. Army and served 4 years, which included 2 tours in Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam he was assigned to the honor guard detail for President Lyndon Johnson. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division (Special Forces) and a Green Beret. After he was honorably discharged he went back to Texas Tech University and earned his Master’s degree and moved to Montana, where he was a county extension agent. He later went into the banking industry and enjoyed a long career doing that in Dalhart and Montana. He retired and moved to Lampasas where he was a rancher. He was very dedicated to taking care of his mother.
Survivors include 2 sisters; Pat McEachern of Lubbock and Sandra Mead of Davenport, IA
Nieces and nephews; Jace Alexander, Ryann Mead, Bailey Mead, Carol Evans (Kirk), Dana Pharr (A.J.), Courtney Evans, Zachary Evans, Shelby Pharr, Joshua Pharr. Aunt, Florine Alexander and the Winston and Diane Baker family.
Graveside services will be Friday April 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
