On April 7, 2015, Ernimae (Erna) Dumas Potts, joined her sweetheart Sam in Heaven at 76 years old. She was born in Izoro, Texas and was the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Lampasas and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1957. While in high school, she was a drum majorette, in the LTP Club and was prom queen her senior year. During her years as a young mother, she lived in various places, and found her way back to her hometown of Lampasas where she continued to raise her kids. Here she met and married the love of her life, Sam Potts in 1975. While raising five kids together, Erna worked for Lampasas Savings & Loan and Lampasas ISD in the vocational department where she retired in 2001. The greatest joy she shared with her husband was being “Mema” to his “Poppy”. They adored their twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. We, as her children, could only hope to live up to the example they set as grandparents… they did it so well. They will always be desperately missed but we are all comforted knowing they were secure in their faith and will enjoy eternity together forever.
Mema is survived by:, her siblings Charlie Dumas and wife Fran, Bess Dumas Bagby and James Dumas
Her children, Margie Thurman and husband Toby, Denise Sutton and husband Tom, Skip Smith and Lynlie, Mike Potts and Valerie Stapp. Twelve grandchildren, Cody Sutton and wife Vickie, Russell Sutton, Justin Thurman, Lauren Thurman, Megan Thurman, Madison Smith, Minely Smith, Lacey Stapp Lee and husband Jason , Phillip Stapp and wife Kenna, Dusty Stapp and wife Amanda, Ty Stapp and Sterling Stapp
She is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Emma Sutton, Sam Sutton, Trible Lee, Tatum Stapp, Grady Stapp, and Kinley Stapp
