Walter Powell Sr.

Walter Lee Powell, Sr., age 76 of Austin, TX died Tuesday March 24, 2015 at his home. Walter was born October 28, 1938 in Houston, the son of Rufus Martin Powell and Ida Belle Hillard. He worked as a brick mason and a construction contractor for 20 years. Most recently, he owned and operated Lometa Tire and Lube for a number of years. Walter had lived in the area since 1997. Survivors include his sons, Walter Powell Jr. and wife Michelle of Minnesota Charles Powell of Austin William Eugene Tyson of Dallas Sister, Margaret Evans of New Iberia, Louisiana A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive Walter was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle and his brother, William. Funeral services for Walter Powell will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. Walter’s body will be cremated. Memorials can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
