Felix Felan 86 of Lampasas, Texas died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Rebecca, his sister Anna Felan, his two sons Felix Don and wife Patty, Noel Victor and wife Judy, and his daughter Audra Elaine Carter and fiancé Seals McCarty. He was blessed with three grandchildren: Taylor Felan and fiancé Kaitlyn Wright, Sarah Felan and Nolan Carter. He also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Santa Anna and Zaragosa and his sister Beatrice Garcia. He was born in Liberty Hill, Texas on August 14, 1928 to Zaragosa and Santa Anna Felan. He was raised in Bertram, Texas. When young Felix was four his father died suddenly from pneumonia. He could recall but one memory of his father- greeting him on the front porch as he returned from work one day. He was raised by his mother and step father Felix Arnulfo Felan. Other members of the Felan family that helped out and greatly influenced his upbringing were his grandfather Felix C. Felan and uncle Fred Felan. As a youth he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing baseball and football. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of seventeen. His military service included a Military Police assignment in Japan as part of the post -World War II occupation force. He was honorably discharged in 1949. In 1950, he and Rebecca Gill married and then lived in Lampasas for over 60 years. While attending business school in Lampasas, he flipped burgers at the original Dairy Cue that is now called Storm’s Restaurant. He was one of the first employees hired by owner John Storm. He later worked as Parts Manager at Love Brothers Ford and spent over 35 years in the auto trade industry with Ford Motor Company throughout Texas. Upon retiring from Ford, he and Rebecca with her sister Janie Delgado and her husband John opened Rancho Fajitas restaurant and they enjoyed a successful ten year run in the business. His career in the auto and restaurant businesses allowed him to meet many people from all walks of life. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making friendships that lasted a lifetime. Family and his children were extremely important to him and his main priority throughout his entire life. He will always be remembered for his love of family, jovial personality and welcoming smile and his endless encouraging warmth for people. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, fishing, raising livestock, the Dallas Cowboys and reading. He was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Heartfelt appreciation and love is extended to family members Fred Felan Jr., Juan Garcia, Leona Gill, Alex Gill, Mario Gill, Rudy Gill, Ricky Gill, his devoted nurse Lisa Sherry and many other friends for their loving care and assistance during Felix’s last days in Hospice Care. The family will Celebrate his life at the following: Rosary Service and Viewing: Friday evening March 13 at 6:30 pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel Additional Viewing Sneed Funeral Chapel, Saturday March 14, 2015 at 9:00 am Funeral Mass: Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Saturday March 14, 2015 at 10:30 am Interment will occur immediately following the funeral at Oak Hill Cemetery.
