Mary Novis Bozarth Hayhurst, 91, of Abilene, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 15, 2015. She was born at Lawrence Chapel, Texas on February 9, 1923 to Miles and Beulah Bozarth, the youngest of eight children. She married Eugene Arning, who was killed in action during WWII. She married Wesley Hayhurst on August 24, 1949. She was a graduate of Sul Ross State University and taught physical education for many years.
She will be remembered for her talent for painting and for singing, her love of God and country, her appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation, and for the devotion and love she had for her family. She was a loyal and loving friend to many.
Mrs. Hayhurst was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Esther Lawhon, Ethel Stern and Mildred Simank, brothers Marshall, Joe, Curtis and M.C. Bozarth, husband First Leiutenant Eugene Arning, and husband Wesley Hayhurst. She is survived by daughter Carol Ann Davis (Randy) of Abilene, son Robert Hayhurst (Amy) of Houston, grandchildren Mark Davis (Jennifer), Christa Fonville (Kyle), Caren Williams (Jason), and Nathan Hayhurst, great-grandchildren Kylie and Christian Fonville, Cole, Lane and Jacy Williams, and Truman and Cash Davis.
Visitation will be Sunday January 18, 2015 from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday January 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
