"They shall mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint.“ Isaiah 40:31 With her husband, and three children at her bedside, Judy Beth Walker went to heaven on Friday, January 9 at 70 years of age. She was born AUGUST 4, 1944 in Brady Tx TO JACK AND NORMA FORD. JUDY GREW UP IN THE SMALL TEXAS TOWN OF RICHLAND SPRINGS, alongside her beloved older sister, Karen, Judy came to Austin to study at Nixon Clay Business College as a young woman. She received her degree and went to work for the owner of the college, Mr. Don Phillips. Later she worked as a LEGAL SECRETARY FOR TX INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS AND ROYALTY OWNERS (T. I. P. R O.) AND in 1968 joined this law group on a trip to Washington DC to MEET WITH PRESIDENT L B J AND JAKE PICKLE about the oil industry. IN THE EARLY 70’s SHE WAS ACTIVE IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOC AND WAS a key part of successfully convincing the Austin City Council to widen Old Jollyville Rd from 2 lanes into 4, which was necessary because North Austin was experiencing heavy growth. THEN on OCTOBER 31, 1985 SHE WAS APPOINTED TO THE FIRST CAPITOL METRO BOARD BY THE AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL WHERE SHE SERVED OVER 2 YEARS. She was a leader in her church and community. Judy’s passion and lifelong hobby was playing piano. SHE BEGAN PLAYING THE PIANO WHEN IN THE FIRST GRADE AND was able to enjoy playing UNTIL 2007 when she had major back surgery. Her husband, Harold, loved her music and enabled her to make A CD RECORDING OF GOSPEL MUSIC IN 2006 which she shared with friends and family. Judy LOVED PLAYING FOR CHURCH SERVICES, weddings, funerals AND GOING TO Nursing HOMES where she played FOR THE residents. She made many friends over the years at several Austin area Nursing Homes and certainly brightened many hours for those with whom she shared her love and gift for music. Her family knows after she was welcomed into heaven she immediately joined the heavenly choir at the feet of Jesus singing praises. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Harold Walker of Cedar Park, Tx. She and Harold married on December 21, 1963. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Erby of Ft. Worth, Tx; her niece, Debra Jones of Conroe, TX and her niece, Kathy Harper of Keller, TX; her daughter, Janine Barnett of Morristown, TN, her daughter, Jennifer Entrekin of Leander, Tx; her son, R.C. Walker of Georgetown, Tx and 7 grandkids and 1 great grandson. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., funeral will be held at New Hope First Baptist Church in Cedar Park, TX on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Smith Cemetery Kempner, TX at 4:15 p.m.
