Walter W. Cashell

Walter William Cashell, age 85 of Lampasas, TX died Tuesday December 30, 2014 at a local nursing home. Walter was born December 25, 1929 in Martinsburg, WV the son of Frank Cashell and Eva (Beard) Cashell. He grew up in Olney, MD. While in high school, he wrote for the school paper. He married Freda Geraldine Fisher. He enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation from high school and served over 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as MSGT. He served during both Korean Conflict and Vietnam. After retiring from the military, Walter was in retail management. He managed the local Revco store for many years and helped with the Cove and Killeen stores as well. Walter was very involved at Faith Lutheran Church in Lampasas, where he was a member. Survivors included 2 daughters: Brenda Melder of Lamapsas Colleen Bray of Arkansas Son, Larry Cashell and wife Dodie of Austin 8 grandchildren; Daniel, Tori, Joy, Austin, Bryce, Andrea, Sam and Rebecca Numerous great-grandchildren also survive Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Freda G. Cashell in 1994. Visitation will be Monday January 5, 2015 from 4-6 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Walter W. Cashell will be Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.
