LaVerne Carlile

Bernice LaVerne Carlile, age 88 of Lampasas, TX died Tuesday December 30, 2014 at Spring Oaks Nursing and Rehab. LaVerne was born April 26, 1926 in Nix, TX the daughter of Albert Theodore “A.T.” McCrea and Theodocia Frances (Lindsey) McCrea. Laverne attended school through the 10th grade in Nix and finished her high school education in Lampasas. After high school she went to Jackson Business College and on October 9, 1948 LaVerne married Howard Avon Carlile; he passed away in 2011. LaVerne worked at Goodman Dry Good Store; She also worked for Dr. Don Carroll and later, County Agent and Home Demonstration. LaVerne assisted with vacation bible school by helping in the kitchen; she was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas. Survivors included a daughter: Darlene Carlile and husband, David 3 grandsons: Matt Carlile and wife, Belen, Britt Carlile, Clint Carlile 4 great grandchildren: Dakota, Lyanna, Avery, and Nash LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Avon Carlile, brother Herbert Ray McCrea, and sister Thelma Lorene McCrea. Funeral services for Mrs. Carlile will be Saturday January 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
