Mrs. Teresa Maria (Harber) Davis, 83, of Lometa, Texas, a retired school teacher, died December 1, 2014 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple. She was born March 26, 1931 in Lawton, OK, the daughter of Thomas Wilson Harber and Gladys (Nix) Harber. Mrs. Davis’ early school days were in rural Knox County near Munday, TX. The Harber family later moved to Wichita Falls and then to the Kessler Park area of Oak Cliff near Dallas. After graduating from Sunset High School in 1948 in Dallas, she enrolled at North Texas State College where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority and 1951 Sweetheart of Alpha Mu Alpha. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1952 and taught 3rd and 4th grades for 8 years for Dallas I.S.D. Teresa married John Lynwood Davis Sr. on December 20, 1952 at Kessler Park Methodist Church in Dallas, TX. In 1960 they moved to the family ranch near Lometa where Mrs. Davis taught 2nd grade in Lampasas I.S. D. from 1960 until she retired in 1992. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lampasas County Retired Teacher’s Association, Lampasas County Farm Bureau and a member of Lometa United Methodist Church. For many years Teresa and John served as delegates to the church’s Southwest Texas Annual Conference.
Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Harber Wild, and husband John Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Lometa United Methodist Church with Rev. Jenny Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery near Lometa. Visitation will be Wednesday December 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Lometa United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
