Gene Eddings

September 1, 1931 — September 27, 2014

We grieve, yet not as those who have no hope, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14). Norman Gene Eddings was born in Brown County, Texas on September 1,1931 to Walter and Nona Eddings. He graduated from Hardin Simmons College, and after serving in the Army moved to Odessa, Texas to become a school teacher. In Odessa, he met the love of his life, Mary Kay Herring of Lometa, Texas and married her in June of 1956. Over the next three decades, Gene Eddings progressed thru the Ector County School District, moving from elementary school coach, Junior High coach and teacher, Purchasing Agent and Business Manager. Along the way, he earned a Masters from Sul Ross College, officiated numerous High School football games, worked various summer jobs to provide for his family and raised three sons. He and Mary Kay were a great team, and built a strong family. In 1981, they moved to Burnet, Texas where he became the Assistant Superintendent of Burnet CISD. After retirement, he worked part-time at his ranch in Lometa and played golf with a great group of guys. Gene is survived by his wife Mary Kay, sons; Greg and wife Elaine, Mark and wife Chavela and Max and wife Denisse. "Pepa" has five grandchildren, Jessica Eddings-Roeser and husband Mark, Samuel Eddings and wife Shannon, Colin Eddings and wife Nora, Victoria Eddings and Katherine Eddings, four great-grandchildren, Porter Eddings, Dottie Eddings, Dove Roeser and Bo Roeser.
