John Thomas “JT” Gribble, 94
John Thomas “JT” Gribble of Granbury, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday evening, June 21, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.
JT was born on October 30, 1919 to Ruby Mary Lea (Kirby) Gribble & Felix Levi Gribble in Lometa, Texas. After completing his secondary education, he worked in Dallas at North American Aviation, assembling planes for WWII. At age 24, he joined the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class maintaining P51 Mustang aircraft. He was honorably discharged on March 5, 1946. His career started as a meat salesman, then as a Partner of Hughson Meat Company, which spanned over 50 years.
JT was a baptized believer for 68 years. He was an avid supporter and member of the VFW and NRA. He was also a 10+ Gallon Blood Donor for Central Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Ruby Gribble and wife of 45 years, Evelyn (Werner) Gribble.
He is survived by wife of 24 years, Marijoye (Bowden) Gribble, a daughter Jeanne (Huffman) Williams, a son John Rickey Gribble, two granddaughters Sherry (Williams) Pruitt and husband Mark Pruitt, Shannon (Williams) Eakin and husband Eric Eakin, two great-grandchildren Timothy Pruitt and Megan (Pruitt) Winder and husband Garrett Winder. He had two step children - Scott Williams and his children: Shawn, Loni, Rae & Wesley; Christine Williams and her children Casey Behr & son Dalton, Claudia Davis & children Lily & Jackson, & Camryn Williams.
He was loyal husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He loved America and Old Glory. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A heartfelt thank you to those who took special care of JT over the past year: Dr. Bruce Carpenter and Nurse Shellie; Mary, with Visiting Angels of Granbury; and Universal Health Services (hospice) – Deborah, Renna, Weldon & Michelle.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00pm at Senterfitt Cemetery, located at 4746 CR 1436, Lometa, TX. Visitation will precede services at 1:30pm.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ulysses Allen, Eric Eakin, Johnny Gustafson, Wally Jones, Ned Kirby, Everett Low, Mark Pruitt, Timothy Pruitt and Scott Williams.
