Harry Leonard Hendrix Jr., departed this life on Friday June 13, 2014, while helping a neighbor. Harry was born October 6, 1936 in Port Arthur, TX the son of Harry Leonard Hendrix and Mary Susan (Crockett) Hendrix. He grew up and graduated from high school in Port Arthur, then served honorably in the United States Marine Corp for 3 years and 3 more years in USMC Reserves. Harry married the love of his life, Betty Douglas Richardson on April 3, 1959. Their love was still going strong at 55 years of marriage. His love for the Lord Jesus Christ and his desire to share the Word with others lead him to serve as a missionary in Mexico for three years. Upon his return to the United States he and his family settled in Lampasas in 1972 and began his business, Hendrix and sons Construction. His business evolved so that he primarily served farmers and ranchers with his concrete tanks and troughs which he continued to build until his passing. Harry was involved in and loved the Lampasas community. He served a term as a Board Member on the Lampasas Independent School District and was fond of and enjoyed participating in Republican political events. However, nothing was more important in his life than his children and grandchildren and the events that were important in their lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Hendrix of Lampasas, and by their 3 children; Harry Hendrix III (Kristina) of Austin, Grady Hendrix (Laura) of Athens, and Susan Mills (Paul) of Spring Branch. 2 sisters; Mary Ann Cavazos of Baytown and Alma Katherine Drake of Port Arthur. 10 grandchildren; Harrison Hendrix, Hudson Hendrix, Hunter Hendrix, Hayden Hendrix, Emily Hendrix, Madison Hendrix, PJ Mills, Josh Mills, Ashley Mills and Zach Mills.
