Curtis Lee “Pete” “Tubby” Peterson, age 61 of Copperas Cove, TX died Friday, May 30, 2014 at his home. Curtis was born February 12, 1953 in Maddock, ND the son of Oluf Thoruold Peterson and Marnie Freda (Deede) Peterson. Curtis was a retired MSG in the U.S. Army. His military awards include: Rifle Marksman Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Overseas Service Bar, Army Service Ribbon/Overseas Service Ribbon (with #2 device), Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal (with one Bronze Service Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (six awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal (with two Bronze Service Stars), Army Achievement Medal (three awards), and the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards). He was stationed in Korea, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Knox, Ft. Irwin, and Ft. Hood. After he retired, he worked as a manager of sporting goods and automotive at Wal-Mart for 21 years, where he recently retired. Curtis lived in the Lampasas area since 1991.
Survivors include his son: Scotty Lee Peterson and wife Tawana of Copperas Cove
Jaylen Peterson, Jayson Peterson, Jayden Peterson, Jayvien Peterson, his brother, Larry Peterson and wife Cindy of Oregon, his sister, Shirley Peterson and husband Larry of North Dakota, his ex-wife and best friend, Jean of Copperas Cove, and childhood & lifelong friends, Dwight and Lori O’Connell.
Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, two of his brothers, Roger Jerome Peterson and Harold Dwayne Peterson, and two of his sisters, Sharon Diane Peterson and Marlys Marie Peterson.
Funeral services for Curtis Peterson will be held on Saturday June 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
