Fred Mitchell Carroll, 87, died April 28, 2014. Fred was born November 28, 1926 in Ballinger, TX to E.J. “Jack” Carroll and Margaret Louella May Carroll. He graduated high school in Ballinger and attended 2 years at Tarleton where he majored in voice and business and was head cheerleader. Fred graduated from Baylor University with a BBA; he paid most of his school costs by racing motorcycles.
Fred married Dorothy Perrin in 1949; they were married 65 years. He worked for Shell Oil Co, and Ashland Oil Co as a crude oil buyer, and for Scurlock Oil Co as a field supervisor. Fred had oil hauling trucks, service stations, and a Firestone Store in College Station. Then he went into business for himself as a Texaco distributor, Mobil in Bertram, Arco distributors in Lampasas and Liberty Hill. Fred loved his Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. He loved to travel and visited all the U.S. states, except for Hawaii because motor homes won’t float. He also visited Canadian provinces. Fred and Dorothy wintered in the Rio G. Valley and summered in Colorado.

A visitation for Mr. Carroll will be held Thursday May 1, 2014 from 5pm – 7pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas.
