Byron O. Loader, age 89 of Lampasas, TX died Friday February 14, 2014 at his home. Byron was born September 30, 1924 in Walnut Springs, TX the son of William Oscar Loader and Rebecca Viola (Pylant) Loader. He married Wilma L. Chaffin August 21, 1946 in Iredell, TX. Byron served proudly in the United States Army for 26 years in various duty stations, where received these commendations; Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Rifleman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal Europe, Africa, Middle East Theatre Ribbons, 3 Bronze Stars ( Ardennes, Central Europe, Rhineland) WWII Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Purple Heart Medal. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4. Byron went on to work for the U.S. Civil Service in missile systems at Ft. Bliss for many years. He had been a resident of Lampasas, TX since 1985. Byron was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas where he was active on the stained glass window committee and money counting committee. He is survived by his wife, Wilma L. Loader of Lampasas 2 sons; Michael Loader and wife Susan of San Antonio David Loader and wife Marcey of Sugar Land Brother, Marcus Loader and wife Bettye of Lampasas 6 grandchildren; Brian Loader, Kevin Loader, Shawn Loader, Cameron Loader, Cheryl Durkop, Cayman Loader 6 great-grandchildren; Katelyn Durkop, Caleb Loader, Eli Loader, Brennan Loader, Kyle Durkop, Denali Loader. Byron was preceded in death by his parents and by step-father, Bryan Smith and by step-brother, John D. Smith A visitation for Mr. Loader will be held Wednesday February 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday February 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel with burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors at 3:00 p.m.
