Loyd Thorp

Loyd Thorp “Papa”, age 89 of Lampasas, TX died Thursday February 6, 2014 at Regal Nursing Home. Loyd was born January 31, 1925 in Tow, TX the son of George Gideon Thorp and Bettie (Maxwell) Thorp. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946, during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a TEC 5 INF. On November 11, 1946 in Comanche, TX Loyd married Mary Chancellor. In 1962 Loyd and his family moved to Lampasas. He worked for Jim Hoffpauir Chevrolet for 19 years as a mechanic. Loyd loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his son: Jay Thorp of Lampasas, TX Daughters: Laura Carroll of Burnet, TX Jan Nickson of Lampasas, TX Clara Lundy of Cedar Park, TX 9 Grandchildren 21 Great-grandchildren 8 Great-great grandchildren Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Thorp, 2 brother, and 3 sisters. Visitation will be Saturday February 8, 2014 at noon. at Christ the Rock Church in Lampasas, TX. Funeral service will be Saturday February 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Christ the Rock Church in Lampasas, TX. Burial will follow at Comanche County Gardens of Memory.
