Victor Webb Quinton was born April 10, 1933 in Great Falls, SC to Thomas Neely Quinton and Amy Ree Baker. He is survived by 2 brothers and 2 sisters and was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother, Billy Quinton. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Martha and 6 children. Victor Quinton Jr. and wife Kim; William Hood and wife Antje; Edward Hood and son Quinton; Martha Quinton Jr.; Thomas Quinton; Arlivia Lent. He is also survived by grandsons; Patrick and Mark hood, Quinton Hood, Chris and Patrick Lent and by granddaughters; Ashley Quinton Fontenot and husband Chris and the youngest Lucy Hood; great-grandsons; Hayden and Westin Fontenot and by one he loved as a son, Chase Hopson.
Victor was a career soldier and although he held positions during his 22 years of service, his love was being First Sergeant and taking care of his men. He saw combat in the Korean War in 1951, 2 years in Vietnam and even a year during Desert Storm as a civilian. He was Armor “All the Way” and taught his men to “Walk Lightly”. He received numerous medals and commendations including a Silver Star and 2 Purple Hearts. He retired in 1972 and was proud to be an American Soldier until the day he died.
After the military, Victor went to work for the government at Ft. Hood and served his country another 20 years as PMB chief of DRMO first at Ft. Hood and then in Europe where he was sent to various locations including Operation Desert Storm. He retired in 1993 and returned to them home he loved, Lampasas. Here was a deacon at School Creek Baptist Church and ran his small ranch in Lampasas County. Victor loved and served God, Country and Family without condition and for his entire life. He will be laid to rest with his brothers and sisters in arms at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Funeral will be Friday Jan 24, 2014 at 11 am at Sneed Funeral Chapel and burial in Killeen at 3:00 pm.
