Opal Stockman, age 102 of Lampasas, Texas died Monday January 13, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX. Opal was born July 9, 1911 in Wichita Falls, TX the daughter of Edwin Witten and Henrietta (Ford) Witten. She moved to Lampasas when she was nine years old; had lived in Taylor and Kyle for a number of years. She was a resident of Lampasas since 1979. Opal graduated from Lampasas High School. She attended business school and went to work for the Texas Education Agency as an assistant in the textbook division, for 20 years.
Survivors include her son: John D. Stockman (Katherine) of Park Forest, IL
Daughter: Joy Bixler of El Paso, TX
Grandchildren: James L. Stockman, Melissa A. Schwartz (Mark), Beverly J. Wrigglesworth (Robert), Brenda L. Collins (William), Barbara Y. Bixler
Great-grandchildren: Madeline M. Schwartz, Justin E. Bixler, Tabitha J. Dysard, Dr. Shana Seals (Dr. Scott), Joni Seeley (Evan)
Great-great-grandchildren: Briar McGath, James B. Bixler, Aidan P. Bixler, Levi Seals, Micah Joy Seals, Gavin Seeley.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Stockman, 4 sisters, and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be Monday January 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas. Visitation will be Sunday January 19, 2014 from 3:00p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas, TX.
