Curtis Lee Scroggins

Curtis Lee Scoggins, age 78 of Navasota, TX died January 12, 2014 at his home. Curtis was born January 20, 1935 in Florence, Kansas the son of Homer Scoggins and Hazel (O’Neal) Scoggins. He married Varda L. Simon April 28, 1969. They had lived in Humble, Lometa, Bastrop, Johnson City and Normangee. Curtis drove fro ABF for many years. He served in both U.S. Army and U.S. Navy for several years. Survivors are wife Varda (Simon) Scoggins of Navasota, TX Brother, Conrad Scoggins (Janelle) of Silsbee, TX 3 sisters; Shirley O’Neal of Midland Marilyn Gibbs of Midland Margaret Brewer of Richardson Daughters; Kathy Glavish of CA and Neina Scoggins of AR Step-son, David Childers (Ann) of Normangee Granddaughter, Dusty Lynn McBride of Bastrop 5 grandsons; Micky Childers (Slinda), Jeremy Childers (Kelly), Heath Childers, Jake Childers, Zach Childers 14 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Darrell Lynn Childers. A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be at 1 pm. Burial will be in Hillsdale Cemetery near Izoro, TX. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donation be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
