Vernette J. Harkey

Vernette J. Harkey, age 78 of Lampasas, TX died Thursday October 17, 2013 at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Vernette was born April 6, 1935 in FT. Worth, TX the daughter of Sam Jones and Irene (Griffay) Jones. Vernette was a homemaker and bookkeeper. She grew up in San Saba and had been a resident of Lampasas for about 50 years. She married Tommy E. Harkey in September of 1950 in Llano, TX. Survivors include; husband, Tommy E. Harkey of Lampasas 2 daughters; Debbie Blakley and Jerry. Connie Hartmann 2 grandsons; Randy Thorp and Joni and Evan Blakley 3 great-grandchildren; Isiah Thorp, Chloe Thorp and Randon Thorp Funeral service for Mrs. Harkey will be held Sunday October 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday October 19, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Vernette was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Jackson Jones and Clayton Jones and by 2 sisters; Willene Stone and Sammie Maxwell and by a son-in-law, Rodney Hartmann
