Charles Edward Simon Sr., age 69 of Lampasas, passed away Sunday June 16, 2013 surrounded by the one thing most important to him, his family. He was born October 2, 1943 in Lampasas the son of Harvey Simon and Reba (Baxter) Simon. He grew up in Lampasas and was proud to be a Badger. He played high school football and went on to play at the college level both for University of Houston and Sam Houston State University. He married Barbara Olson on January 27, 1967. Charlie’s career moved the family to Channelview, Tx and later to Austin where he was V.P. for Texaco Distributors. He along with a business partner bought a beer distributorship in Ft. Worth and operated it for 5 years. He added another distributorship in New Braunfels and two more later, one in Bryan College Station and the other in Pearsall. Galveston was his last stop as V.P. and General Manager of Miller Beer before moving back to Lampasas, when he purchased Lampasas Cleaners with branches in Burnet, Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay and Kingsland. Charlie was an avid hunter, fisherman and all around sportsman.

Charlie was preceded in death by a sister, Wilda Juanice Cunningham, by his parents and by his step-father, Clyde Fretwell
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
