John Davis Sr.

John Lynnwood Davis Sr., age 81 of Lometa, TX died June 12, 2013 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. He was born June 5, 1932 near Lometa the son of O. L. Davis and Viola Maxwell Davis. John graduated from Lometa High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952. He married Teresa Harber December 20, 1952. John was a school teacher for many years and operated a family ranching concern in the county. He was involved in a variety of civic affairs including Farm Bureau and Lometa Housing and Urban Development as well as Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association and Center Cemetery Association President. John was also very active in church activities at Lometa Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as delegate to the Texas United Methodist Church Annual Conference. Survivors include his wife Teresa Davis of Lometa Son, John Lynnwood Davis Jr. of Seminole, OK Daughter, Laurie Jo Davis of Austin Twin sister, Josephine Hammonds of Lometa Brother, O.L. Davis Jr. and wife Joan of Georgetown Many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Lometa Methodist Church with Pastor Celia Halfacre officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery near Lometa. Visitation will be Friday June 14, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
