Dan R. Dowdy

Dan Ray Dowdy, age 85 of LaGrange, TX (formerly Lampasas, TX) died May 24, 2013 at his home. Dan was born April 12, 1928 in Mangum, OK the son of Hubert Dowdy and Mary (Dudek) Dowdy. Dan graduated High School in Mangum, OK and began a long successful career in law enforcement. He was a Department of Public Safety Trooper and worked in Amarillo, Canyon, Childress and retired in Austin as Sergeant. Dan married Rebecca Dudenhoeffer July 9, 1948 in Mangum, OK. Dan was a member of LaGrange First Baptist Church and enjoyed being Director of Triple L in Lampasas. Survivors include wife, Rebecca Dowdy of LaGrange, TX Daughter, Carolyn Louise Dahse of LaGrange, TX Sister, Arlene Dudenhoeffer Brother, Glen Dowdy of Amarillo, TX 5 grandchildren: Aaron Hilscher, Justin Ray Dowdy, Heather Mangum, Natalie Hooker and Regan Dowdy 7 great-grandchildren:Kailee, Micaela, Hunter, Addison, Ryleyh, Cooper and Bristol Dan was preceded in death by his son, Ray Lynn Dowdy Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Capital Parks (Memorial Hill) Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX. Visitation will be Monday May 27, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. The family requests that memorials be made to the Lampasas Mission.
