Modesta Gauna

Modesta (Escalante) Gauna, age 81, of Lampasas, TX died Friday April 26, 2013 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. She was born February 24, 1932 in Gonzales, TX the daughter of Manuel Escalante and Refugia (Neria) Escalante. She married Juan Gauna and was a homemaker and member of ST. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lampasas. Survivors include 3 sons; Emilio Gauna of Austin Victor Gauna and Ray Gauna both of Lampasas 4 daughters; Carmen Castruita, Frances Felan, Angie Torres and Rosemary Allison all of Lampasas 1 brother, Jesse Escalante of Austin 2 sisters; Gloria Barrientos and Manuela Escalante both of Austin Modesta was preceded in death by her husband and by 2 sons; Johnny and Alejos Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 30, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lampasas with Father Pedro Castillo officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday April 29, 2013 at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
