LaFayne Porter

LaFayne Porter, age 86 of Bend, TX died Wednesday March 20, 2013 at home. LaFayne was born September 19, 1926 at Bend, TX the daughter of Luther Archie Baxter and Ora Elizabeth (Haynes) Baxter. She went to Little Bend Schoolhouse and later to Nix School and finished in Lampasas. LaFayne went to Jackson Business College and became a bookkeeper. She kept books for Producer’s Produce, Anne’s Ladies Shop, and ran Mr. Chips with Bernice. She married B.E. Porter September 11, 1943 and he preceded her in death in December 2011. LaFayne loved playing golf, sewing, baking, yard-work and bowling. She was a member of Bend United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Harold Porter and wife Angie of Bend, TX 2 daughters; Ann Wagner and husband Bob of Bend, TX Sherry McBryde of Lampasas, TX Brother, S.A. Baxter and wife Kathy of Lampasas, TX Grandchildren; Stacey Hendrick (Jason), David Parker (Beth), Colby Kelch (Courtney), Kelsie Springer (Kyle), Krysten Zauderer (Brock), Brittney Jones (Brad), Robert Wagner Great-grandchildren; Allison Hendrick, Alexi Kaufert, Lee Ann Parker, Mason Zauderer, Carson Zauderer, Addison Zauderer, Rylee Jones, Kanon Springer, Lexi Wagner and Laci Wagner. LaFayne was preceded in death by her husband, by parents, by granddaughter, Cindy Parker, by sister, Iva Landers and by son-in-law, Bill John McBryde. Funeral service for LaFayne Porter will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday March 22, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorials can be made to: Bend Cemetery P.O.
