Mary Ruth Runyon

Mary Ruth Runyon passed away at the age of 83 in Rollins Brook Hospital on February 11, 2013 after a short illness. She is survived by her husband, Charles, 84, and two sons, Mark of Columbia, MO and Matthew of Cedar Park, TX, as well as two grandsons, Walker and Nathan. She was born in Kingsport, TN on July 19, 1929 and is survived by two brothers, Jack and Glen of Mexico, MO and one sister, Dorothy Peak, also of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ora (Conklin) Phillips of Mexico, MO; one brother, George Phillips Jr. of Mexico, and 3 sisters, Opal and Mabel of Mexico, MO, and Reba of Louisiana, MO. Ruth graduated from Mexico, MO High School and attended the University of New Mexico, where she obtained a nursing degree. She worked as a professional nurse for 25 years, five years of which she was supervisor of nursing for New Mexico State Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. She also worked as a nurse in Jerome, Arizona and Farmington, MO. She had lived in Lampasas for over 25 years. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow. Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements
