Galen Edward Watson, age 76 of Lampasas, TX died Saturday Januray 26, 2013 at his son’s home in Austin, TX. Galen was born April 23, 1936 at Watson, TX the son of David Edward Watson and Beulah Bradley (Wolf) Watson. He grew up on South Rocky Creek and attended school in Briggs, TX through 5th grade. His family then moved to Lampasas. Galen worked the Leroy, Circle and Rio theatres throughout high school. He went to The University of Texas and married Louise Thorp. Then he transferred to Texas Christian University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics. He worked at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, TX as a flight text engineer helping break the speed of sound by calculating the thermodynamic honeycomb skin of the plane. He moved to Las Vegas working for EG&G as senior scientific executor of top secret projects at Nevada Test Site Area 51. Galen also earned a Master’s degree in Psychology while there. He returned to Lampasas in 1981 and worked for IBM until retiring to enjoy fishing, swimming, shooting, antique gunsmithing and knife making.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Bob Watson
Graveside funeral services for Galen Watson will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
