Jeanne Alice Whitis

Jeanne Alice Whitis, age 84 of Kempner, TX died Sunday January 13, 2013 at her home. Jeanne was born January 20, 1928 in Sexsmith Alberta, Canada the daughter of George Alfred Johns and Jessie (Limoseth) Johns. Jeanne married Donald Reese Whitis November 10, 1945 in Canada and moved to Texas. She loved playing softball and ice skating as a young lady in Canada. Her farming and ranching, her love of family and raising English bulldogs were her life’s work. Survivors include 2 daughters; Brenda Whitis Powell of Gatesville Vickie Whitis (Charlie Cagle) of Kempner Son, Ricky Whitis (Sharron) of Kempner Sister, Marion Lewis of Niagra Falls, Ontario Canada Grandchild, Dusty Jean Dann Kunkel (Jonathan) of Wortham, TX 2 great-grandchildren; Brazos Wayne Kunkel and Jozi Jean Kunkel of Wortham, TX Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and by 3 sisters; Betty Pearce, Lucille Bitz and Geraldine Hall Funeral services for Jeanne Whitis will be held on Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Kempner Cemetery in Kempner, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Kempner Cemetery Association.
