Wanda Virginia Huckabee

Wanda Virginia Huckabee was born in Coryell County in 1925, to Ralph and Emma Hamilton. She grew up and was raised on Tough Street in Flat, TX. She married Edward Eugene Huckabee on May 29, 1948. They moved to Copperas Cove, TX in 1952. In 1960, they adopted their son, Scott Huckabee. After a career as a medical assistant working for Fred Barbee M.D., Wanda retired in 1986 and spent most of that time making music with her friends. She was a passionate musician and was inducted into the Coryell County Country Music Hall of Fame. Her parents, her brothers Jake Hamilton, Herman Hamilton, and sisters Lucille Faucett, and Mozell Roden preceded Ms. Huckabee in death. Wanda is survived by her son, Scott Huckabee and wife June of Kempner, TX. She had three grandsons: David Huckabee, BJ Huckabee and Zach Huckabee and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday January 1, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
