Granville Eugene (Gene) Tyson, age 70 of Lampasas, Texas died December 22, 2012 at Rollins-Brook Community Hospital. Gene was born October 5, 1942 in Elgin, Texas the son of Granville Eugene Tyson and Elsie (Latimer) Tyson. Gene married Judy Phillips on November 17, 1971. Gene retired a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, and spent time in California, New Jersey, and Germany before retiring in 1996. He helped establish the Tyson’s Corners Retreat and Wellness Center. Gene worked for Texas A&M Ag Extension Services, and was the pastor of the Adamsville Presbyterian Church for 6 years, and prior to his military career he pastored Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Carrolton. Gene was also honored by UTA for his contributions to military families.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside funeral services for Gene Tyson will be held on Friday December 28, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church. Visitation will be Thursday December 27, 2012 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
