James Hardy

James Ivan Marion Hardy died Friday December 7, 2012 at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, TX. He was born in 1925 to Virginia and Thomas Hardy in Lampasas County. He grew up in Red Bluff, TX and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, serving in World War II on the U.S.S. Escalade (1943) and the U.S.S. Croner (1948). He married Ruth Gossett in 1945. During his lifetime, James worked as a farmer, rancher, Policeman, plumber, and electrician. He owned a grocery store and served as Lampasas County Judge in late 1970’s. He was a member of Lometa Church of Christ, serving for some time as an elder. Survivors include: wife, Ruth Hardy Sister, Dorothy May Son, Les Hardy (Barbara) Daughter, Jan Miles (David) 5 grandchildren; Rusty Hardy, Mike Hardy, Eryn Hardy Wilcoxen, Jesse McGuire and Micah McGuire. 6 great-grandchildren; James Russell Hardy, Alex and Peyton Wilcoxen, Jackson and Hannah and Joshua McGuire. He was a good friend, a Christian and the world’s greatest father. He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers; Ethan and Foy Hardy A funeral service for James Hardy will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lometa Church of Christ in Lometa, TX. Burial will be at Senterfitt Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 3-5:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorials can be made to Cherokee Home for Children P.O.
