Nelda Lou Taylor, 72, of Kempner, Texas, passed away November 28, 2012 at Hill Country Nursing Home in Copperas Cove. Nelda was born February 23, 1940 in Santa Anna, TX, the daughter of J.F. Strickland and Martha (Richey) Strickland. She attended elementary school in Snyder and graduated from Midland High School. She graduated from Hardin Simmons University where she received a BA degree in English. Nelda married Milburn A. (Mat) Taylor on June 18, 1964 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Brownfield, TX. She spent over 40 years teaching. She taught various grade levels at Brownfield, Lamesa, Snyder, and Johnson City, TX. At Johnson City she was also a cheerleader sponsor and UIL student advisor. After retiring she taught, for five years, at Memorial Baptist Academy in Killeen, TX. In 1994 she was selected as one of Whose Who Among American Teachers. Nelda was also a member of Kempner First Baptist Church.

Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and hundreds of her former student and friends.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service for Nelda Taylor will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kempner, Texas. Burial will be at Kempner Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
