Robert Earl McIlroy Jr., 81, of Adamsville, Texas, passed away November 13, 2012 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital. Robert was born February 27, 1931 in Houston, TX the son of Robert Earl McIlroy Sr. and Agnes Amelia (Schoenfeldt) McIlroy. He graduated from Katy High School in Katy, TX in 1949. In 1953 he graduated from Baylor University where he was in the Air Force ROTC. He served in the Air Force and fought in Japan. After serving his country and he was the regional sales manager for Massy Ferguson. On June 9, 1956 he married Carolyn Irene Hoyt; and they enjoyed 56 years together. In 1975, Robert moved his family to Lampasas County where he built 5M Ranch and became a hardworking rancher. Robert enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, baseball, track and competition shooting and calf roping.. He attended the Adamsville Presbyterian Church. Robert’s life was dedicated to serving Christ and studying his word. He was a strong and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Grandchildren: Scot and Kelsey McIlroy, Bobby and Mandie McIlroy, Misty and Alan Erwin, Justin and Erin Mauney, Craig Mauney, Rebecca Mauney, Joseph Hampton, and Benjamin Hampton
Great-Grandchildren: Alissa Erwin, Jaxson Erwin, and Knox Mauney
and a number of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Robert Earl McIlroy Jr. will be held on Friday November 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Adamsville Presbyterian Church in Adamsville, TX. Burial will follow at Hines Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday November 15, 2012 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
