Nina Smale

Nina Fae Kendrick Smale, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Rollins-Brook Community Hospital. She was born February 19, 1919, the daughter of Arthur Jackson and Ora Kincaid Kendrick. She was raised in Oakalla, Texas, with her six brothers and sisters. She cherished her childhood and wonderful memories of growing up in a loving home. She married John Russell Smale on July 3, 1942 in El Paso, Texas, where he was stationed with the U.S. Army, prior to going overseas during WWII. She was a devoted wife for 41 years until his death in May of 1983. Nina lived her life with a love for her family and many friends. She was a blessing to all who knew her and was very close to her nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by two daughters and two sons in law, Judy and Jackie Covington and Glynda and Jackie Chapman; five grandchildren, Traci Green, Shane Green, Terry and June Green, Wade Chapman, Ashley and Jamey Underwood; five great-grandchildren, Presley, Peyton, and Pacey Underwood, Baylee and Khloe Green, one brother, Wayne Kendrick, and two sisters in law, Curley Kendrick Brown, and Zane Hilliard, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Nina was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and sisters, Lucille Reavis, Roberteen Davis, Dailey, Weldon, and Adois Kendrick, and her dearest friend, Brittie (Jiggs) Millsap. Funeral services for Nina Smale will be held on Sunday October 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held on Saturday October 6, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements
