Mickie Jo Fry, Lampasas resident since 1980, passed away July 1, 2012 at the age of 89. Born August 4, 1922 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, her parents were John and Alta Lewis. Some of you may remember Mickie as the lady who roller skated in numerous places around Lampasas in the 1980’s and 1990’s. She also led an aerobics class for several years.
After graduating from Denver High School in Colorado, she performed as a professional roller skater in the Southwestern United States and Mexico. In 1947, she married Arthur Randall Fry, her beloved husband of 58 years. Randall and Mickie lived in multiple states over the course of the years- Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas prior to retiring in Lampasas in 1980. They were active members of the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas until his death in 2007. Mickie then moved temporarily to Canyon, Texas where she lived with her daughter until returning to Lampasas in 2010.
Mickie is survived by: her brother, John Lewis of Littleton, Colorado; her son, Joel Fry of Durango, Colorado; her daughter, Randy Coetzee of Lampasas; her grandson, Bronson Fry of Durango, Colorado; her granddaughters- Jordan Coetzee-Folks of Lampasas, Summer Fry of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Micah Fry of Durango, Colorado. She also leaves three great-grandsons- Calum, Jonah, and Noah Folks.
Viewing will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, July 6. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, July 7 at the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. There will be a private burial at a local cemetery.
